I ran across this article (“How to Use Woodturning Tools”) in the January 1935 issue of Popular Mechanics (go to page 147).

It seems to be another corroboration of the use of the round-nose chisel in spindle turning (see my article in the February 2011 issue of American Woodturner).  The collection of Popular Mechanics on Google is a wonderful source of woodturning information.
